Overview

ScriptKit includes a full-featured video editor that lets you arrange your generated assets on a timeline, add text overlays, transitions, and export professional videos.
The Video Editor is available on Professional and Studio plans only.

Accessing the Editor

From Storyboard

  1. Open your script in Storyboard Mode
  2. Select the clips you want to include
  3. Click Create Video
  4. Name your project and choose settings
  5. The editor opens with your assets pre-loaded

From Dashboard

  1. Go to Projects in the sidebar
  2. Click New Video Project
  3. Choose a script to pull assets from
  4. Configure project settings

The Editor Interface

Timeline

The main workspace at the bottom:
  • Video Track: Your images and video clips
  • Audio Track: Background music and sound effects
  • Text Track: Titles, captions, and overlays
  • Playhead: Shows current position during preview

Preview

Live preview of your video at the current playhead position. Use the play button to preview your entire video.

Asset Library

Access your generated assets:
  • Project Assets: Assets from this script
  • Vault: Your saved assets from any project
  • Uploads: Add external media

Properties Panel

When you select an item on the timeline:
  • Position: X, Y coordinates
  • Size: Width, height
  • Timing: Start time, duration
  • Effects: Filters, opacity, animations

Working with Clips

Adding Clips

Drag assets from the library to the timeline:
  • Images: Default to 3-second duration
  • Videos: Use their natural duration
  • Audio: Drag to the audio track

Trimming

Adjust clip duration:
  1. Select a clip on the timeline
  2. Drag the edges to trim
  3. Or use the Properties panel for precise timing

Splitting

Divide a clip at the playhead:
  1. Position the playhead where you want to split
  2. Select the clip
  3. Press S or click Split in the toolbar

Reordering

Drag clips on the timeline to rearrange. Clips snap to each other for easy alignment.

Text Overlays

Adding Text

  1. Click Add Text in the toolbar
  2. Choose a text style (title, subtitle, caption)
  3. Type your text
  4. Position and time it on the timeline

Text Styles

Text Animation

Apply entrance and exit animations:
  • Fade in/out
  • Slide from direction
  • Scale up/down
  • Typewriter effect

Transitions

Add transitions between clips:
  1. Select two adjacent clips
  2. Click Add Transition
  3. Choose a transition type:
    • Fade: Smooth opacity transition
    • Slide: Push from direction
    • Wipe: Reveal effect
    • Zoom: Scale transition
Drag transition edges to adjust duration.

Effects & Filters

Apply visual effects to clips:

Audio

Background Music

  1. Drag audio to the audio track
  2. Trim to fit your video
  3. Adjust volume in Properties

Volume Control

  • Clip Volume: Individual audio level
  • Fade In/Out: Gradual volume changes
  • Ducking: Auto-lower music when speech plays
For best results, keep background music at 20-30% volume to not overpower narration.

Captions

Auto-Generated Captions

If your clips have text from the original script:
  1. Click Generate Captions
  2. Captions are created from clip text with timing
  3. Review and edit as needed

Manual Captions

Add captions manually:
  1. Click Add Caption
  2. Type the text
  3. Adjust timing to match speech

Caption Styling

Customize caption appearance:
  • Font family and size
  • Text color and background
  • Position (bottom, center, top)
  • Animation style

Exporting

Export Settings

Export Credits

Export uses credits based on resolution:

Export Process

  1. Click Export in the toolbar
  2. Choose resolution and settings
  3. Click Start Export
  4. Wait for rendering (progress shown)
  5. Download your video
Rendering happens in the cloud. You can close the browser and return later—your video will be ready.

Project Management

Auto-Save

Your project saves automatically as you work. The save indicator shows sync status.

Versions

Previous versions are preserved:
  1. Click History in the menu
  2. Browse previous saves
  3. Restore any version

Duplicate Project

Create a copy to try different edits:
  1. Click Project Settings
  2. Select Duplicate
  3. Name the new version

Storage

Video projects count toward your storage limit:
